Tifa Aerith
If you are Cloud who would you pick- Tifa or Aerith?

Tifa, she's hotter.

What IF: Aerith never died by Sephiroth's blade?

When playing one of your favorite games, have you ever wondered about what might have happened if things didn't go the way they did? Or what if a certain company didn't produce a game that you enjoy, or even one of the greatest games ever made? Maybe you never gave a thought to these questions until now. Game Podunk is proud to introduce a new editorial series, "What If," where we will try to envision different outcomes to the question we ask. Chances are that these scenarios are a little far-fetched but in a video game world, anything is possible. So sit back and we hope you have as much fun as we did when we came up with the answers to:  What IF: Aerith never died by Sephiroth's blade?

Aerith's Dark Intentions Revealed!

Then Sephiroth wasn't planning on killing Aerith but rather meeting up with her, then we find out that she was just using the AVALANCE members to make her plans of destroying the planet. Sephiroth wasn't the real villain but rather Aerith's right hand man. So instead of just fighting the idol he used to look up to, Cloud would have to take on the flower girl from the slums whom he might have had feelings for. Would Cloud be able to take her on? No one really knows. But it is likely that if he wasn't able to that, Tifa would have no problem doing the job.

Sephiroth Pulls Trump Card on Cloud.

Then Cloud was the murderer, courtesy of Sephiroth's mind control, of Aerith. When he snaps out of the daze he is in and realizes what he has done, Cloud leaves the gang and sets off to find and kill Sephiroth. But the gang, not aware that it was Cloud who killed Aerith or that his mind was being messed with, tags along unknown to the spiky hair man. When the final confrontation occurs and Cloud sees his friends are there to help him, Sephiroth pulls out his trump card. He informs the group of what really happened to Aerith and when they ask Cloud to confirm or deny it, he can't. Sephiroth then promises them a guaranteed high position in his rule over the Promised Land as long as they kill Cloud. Blinded by the anger from their dear friend's death by him, they kill Cloud and the world is destroyed.

Holy Blooms and so Does Love.

Then Sephiroth's plan to kill Aerith was thwarted and she was able to cast Holy to help Cloud defeat Sephiroth and save the planet. After the hard work is finished, Aerith asks Cloud out and he accepts. Tifa, who has loved Cloud from a distance the whole time, finds solace with Vincent Valentine. Many years and two marriages later, Cloud and Aerith's daughter and Tifa and Vincent's son are on a mission to save the world again.

Aerith Must Die!

Then Aerith was able to pray for Holy to aid them in their war against Sephiroth. When he cast Meteor on the planet, Holy wasn't enough to stop it. The Lifestream wasn't able to help because it needed Aerith's life force to help channel its power towards the looming threat and since Aerith lived, there was no way for her life force to connect with the Lifestream.

From Death Comes New Strength.

Now this one isn't an in-game scenario but rather about how the game or Sephiroth might have been viewed if she was allowed to live. From the moment you first see Aerith, you can't help but to like her. As the game progresses, you see how Cloud and the rest of the group become attached to the flower girl from the slums. When she decides to take that fateful trip to the ancient Cetra city to pray for help, Sephiroth appears and impales her. Most will admit that they did shed a tear and spouted a few curse words at the silver haired villain during this scene. It gave us a reason to continue on our goal, not only being to save the planet, but to avenge Aerith's demise. But if Sephiroth didn't kill her, would we still see red every time he showed up? I believe not. Wanting to destroy a planet is a serious offense but murdering a character we've grown to love is downright evil.
